Received on 07/16/2016: "I just found this page yesterday and am very interested in the Acadiana of Port Royal and the Bay of Fundy. Nineteen families of the 1671 census are in my tree, including your Jean Blanchard and Radegonde Lambert. They are some of my 10th great-grandparents. Willing to help with this project concentrating on the Bay of Fundy area before the deportation." __ Pauline Thompson

Members of the Chronicles of New France project are collaborating to produce a concise chronology of contemporary events and personalities revealing the historical contexts that influenced early Canadian settlers' lives. Currently the project consists of 18 sub-categories, and 24 related free-space pages containing a multitude of profiles initiated for the project. New project members can expand on the work already created, or ask to become co-managers (or members of the trusted lists) of any of the profiles, free-space pages, or categories.

Prior to joining, please assess the scope and content of the project's achievements on the Chronicles of New France category page, so you can inform us of your area of interest.

We look forward to having you join our collaborative endeavors. To join, post a comment on this page. Thanks!

Members strive to conform to the standards of the Wikitree Style Guide.

Proposals

  • Identify “ghost” collaborators and ask then to enroll in the project
  • Validate the integrity of “ghost” collaborators' changes and contributions
  • Remove superfluous references the “ghost” contributors have placed on the Chronicles of New France category page, when the reference already exist on a linked to sub-category or profile.
  • Recensement de la Nouvelle-France en 1666 needs to be revised to conform to format used for Recensement de la Nouvelle-France en 1667. The 1666 census' category's page usage instructions need to be replaced to direct users to the appropriate WikiTree instruction pages; web-links need to be checked to ensure they are correct; web-links need to be supplied to each page within the census document.
  • Some sub-category and free-space page names need to be reconciled or merged.

hi Leslie, outdated items in here, Filles du roy leader is Greg Lavoie, Claude Lambert is no longer on WikiTree. Not sure that Guy Constantineau is still available for research assistance, he has greatly withdrawn from WikiTree due to health concerns.

I am doing maintenance on Long Categories. You might want to think about cutting and pasting the text from the "Category:Chronicles of New France"

and put it on this Space or another space. The Category is too long and will decrease performance of Wikitree. Categories should only contain short summaries of what the Category is about.

Teammates, have you seen the link Chris Whitten placed at the top of this column? You are probably as excited as I to have our project used to illustrate the utility of linking a free-space profile or free-space project-page, like this page, to a collaborative communication on the G2G forum.

For me, the flip-side of the attention is I ought to accelerate my commitment to the team, and the entire WikiTree community, to conform to the standards of the Wikitree Style Guide, by eliminating the un-recommended methods used in designing this project's category page.

For information on the settlement of Yamachiche (in French), extensive research is here.

Danielle Liard has been busy fixing my contextual and spelling errors. I can lighten that burden by heeding her advice to me on one of the space pages:

...“By the way, in French place names that are based on the name of a person, such as a saint, are always hyphenated. ie Saint-Louis is a place, Saint Louis is a person. No periods used when Saint is abbreviated to St either.”

Exactly the kind of tactful advice needed for this project to meet it's full potential. Thank you Danielle. __George
